What are Regional skills competitions?
Regional Skills is the first step on the swim England athlete pathway. All regions within England hold competitions where divers aim to reach the qualifying score for their respective age group. If the obtain the qualifying score they are then able to compete at the National skills finals. Divers outside of the specific region are allowed to compete as guests.
We took three divers Lottie, Ella and Caleb. This was the first skills competition of the year and the standard was extremely high with the judging panel consisting of national judges. Lottie and Ella competed in the group C girls category which had 42 divers overall. It was a real eye-opener for both. Despite that, they did very well and scored 223.00 and 205.55. Caleb competed in the group B+ boys category and after lots of technical issues he stayed focused and put in some great dives. He came 3rd with a score of 234.75.
Well done to all divers, we look forward to improving for the London region skills qualifier on the 6th of April.
